Dr Sara Parks introduces an important group in Second Temple Judaism. This group, whose most famous member is probably Paul, is seemingly familiar from the Christian scriptures – but they usually are woefully misrepresented. Dr Parks warns of the danger of setting Jesus and the Pharisees up in opposition – this misses the complexity of the context, as well as the point of most of the gospel stories.
