Prof. Richard Bell introduces the life and thought of Arthur Schopenhauer (1788-1860). The video gives an account of his epistemology – and how he was influenced by Kant – as a basis for his view of the human person: the ‘body’ is a manifestation of ‘the will.’ Richard Bell holds that many of these ideas are of use to theologians in their work – and that in particular Schopenhauer’s view of music can help us explore the depths of reality and its Creator.
