This video shows the procedure of sampling peritoneal fluid in a horse using the clinical skills model. The procedure shown in this video shows using an approach applicable to the field situation, using a needle and when there is not an assistant to help. In a hospital setting, you may use a teat cannula instead of a needle, and you would be fully gloved and only handle the sterile equipment, with an assistant who was able to hold items such as the unsterile collection tube for you.
