From Simon Barnett
The Eucharist is a central ritual of Christians, and a central to that ritual is the use of a cup of wine for which thanks have been offered to God. But what is often forgotten is that in this Christian meal the emphasis is upon the sharing of a cup: drinking from a common cup. Here Prof. Tom O’Loughlin looks at a range of cups that are used by Christians and asks which of them is most suitable to the distinctive meal activity that is traced back to the table practice of Jesus.
