Alison Christie and Brendan Owers - User Stories from University of Edinburgh
From Julian Tenney
In the first half of this presentation Alison will showcase examples of the types of content staff have been creating across the University of Edinburgh. In the second half of the presentation, Brendan will talk about how Xerte was used in an online programme as part of a group assignment.
The Master of Public Health (MPH) is a 3 year online programme with students from all over the world. Since 2018 Xerte has been used in some form. The first piece was an interactive teaching resource on an elective course. Since then, this has expanded and Xerte is now being used to create content across the programme in a mix of spaces. Teaching staff are using it as alternatives to recorded lectures and in one course students use it to create OERs as part of a group assignment.
This presentation will tell the story of this increase in use and how as a learning technologist it can be supported and scaled within a teaching team. This will hopefully be of interest to those new or experienced in using Xerte in hearing some of the steps that have and haven’t worked so well in getting to where we are.
